We made reservations at the last minute for our campsite in Atlanta, so we were very blessed to stumble upon Stone Mountain Park. It is an amazingly beautiful park, and we had such a lovely stay. The weather was beautiful, the view from our RV was peaceful, and there were a ton of activities there. One of the activities is a free laser show that happens every night all summer long. It is done on the mountain where the largest bas relief in the world was carved. The carving is pretty impressive to look at on its own and features 3 civil war generals. The laser show was a recap of history and culture of Georgia with fun music and fireworks throughout. It was fun sitting on the rocks and enjoying the show.
Earlier in the day I took the children to the Fernbank natural history museum in Atlanta. It was also quite enjoyable. The museum was nice and peaceful and the crowds were small for the first time on our trip. The had an amazing discovery room for children..truely amazing. The room itself was huge and had every type of environment represented for children to play and explore. We spent a lot of time in there, as well as the arts and crafts room, and the IMAX theatre. Overall, this day which was Sunday was a peaceful and enjoyable day.
